Default vibration at 85 km/h

Hi All,

My 08 has developed a vibration at 85km/h. Under warranty , the dealer has "road force" balanced the wheels (twice), straightened a possible bent rim, replaced a tire and still the problem persists. I'm beginning to think it's the crap tires they installed when I bought the truck used from this same Ford dealer, but only at 85km/h??

Any thoughts?

Different dealer?

Something ain't right....they keep telling you they fixed the problem but it persists, and as a single speed issue it definitely sounds like a tire balance issue.

They're either grasping at straws, or they aren't doing jack and telling you they did a,b,c......

Easiest way is to swap parts out but not really cost effective. Could be a whole bunch of things and it depends on how bad the vibration is. Drive shaft? U joints? Worn wheel bearings, tie rods or ball joints could all be playing havoc with this. Try to isolate if it is wheel or not by swapping out wheels and tires with a friend for a road test or take it to another shop for balancing. I was having the same problem and I asked another shop to have a look and he couldn't believe the weights that the first shop (a tire shop) had put on.

Driveshaft out of balance? I know on front wheel drive cars a bad inner axle bearing will make odd "sideways" vibrations, but Im not sure on a truck if the 4x4 isnt engaged. Bent wheel hub? Could be lots and lots of things. 85kph is just the sweet spot where the vibration is translated enough to be felt.

If your at 45, and punch it to 60 or so does it still vibrate?
Could be a low grade misfire.
