I'm happy as hell! Wasn't sure what I was going to see. Expected dirtier than that. Chains were very tight...I'm not a mechanic so that is a pretty relative statement.

It's all buttoned up and I drove it a little. So far I noticed it's more responsive at take off than it was before the change. Mine had a diesel tick but not as bad as many of the ones I've heard posted here. Right now it's not ticking; all I hear is the injectors. I wonder if it will stay like that???

My god, the internals of that engine are clean...... Niiiice!! It will be interesting to hear back from you once you have driven it for awhile after the "change".

I'post up how it goes. I was thinking of changing out the cam phasers but after seeing that I'm leaving it alone after the VCT solenoid replacement.

What I'm interested in seeing is if the larger orifice VCT has an impact on gas mileage. Time and mileage will tell.

Figured I'd add cost:

I got the parts through a friend who owns an independent shop. Ford VCT's were $88 and the valve cover kit (seals and gaskets) was $150.
