Phasors are not the main problem
Oil pressure loss is the problem . Poor oem oil pump , plastic tensioners that have seals blow out causing loss of tension on chains ,chains whip and break guides . Pieces of plastic guides fall and jam oil pump . More low oil pressure .
Phasors are hydraulically controlled from PCM to VCTs to phasors using dirty engine oil. Screens in this circuit clog up and phasor circuit no longer moves cams or jams . Don't use cheap oil or extended oil changes . Only use MC filters .
Fix is new VCTS , metal tensioners with no seal to blow out , and complete timing job-- phasors , chains, lash adjusters and rollers . . Parts alone are $1400. Labor?? Same or more .
Its tough job ,mechanics don't like to do them so they recommend a reman at $7500.
But a new truck at 55k and the interest per month on that --I'll repair my own .
Don't want no turbos either or alum bodies .
