i am looking for a used sct cal 2 tuner. I see one on ebay but it was orignaly bought for a mustang.. 2006 i believe... now the question is....
are these bought for specific vehicles and only work on those specific vehicles or like the one i found the guy advertises that the vin is unlocked.... i didnt know if you could just get the cal then download the proper tunes for it or if it was vehicle specific..

Yes you can use it. IF the unit is truly VIN Unlocked. Xcal2's can be switched between vehicles a total of 5 times before it locks up and cant be used until it is re-programmed by SCT(for a fee) . It will prob come with tunes for the mustang on it (I have a 2006 mustang with xcal2) unless he deletes them. I wouldnt pay more than $250 for a used tuner, unlocked and only used on one vehicle as you will have to buy tunes ($50-$75 each) for it and upload them to the tuner. you will need to download the free software (the Xcal "liveload" v 1.3.1 software for windows XP only) to upload files before you can use it. a good place for tunes is bamachips.com, vmptuning.com or Troyer...
