Default Use E-85 fuel?

What is the sure fire way to tell that a 2007 F-150 5.4L Triton can use E-85?

What's it say in the owners manual ? The 8th letter in your VIN should also be a "V" if it's a flex fuel vehicle. The sticker under the hood will also say it's a FFV or Flex Fuel Vehicle. E85 will give you better power but trades off overall fuel mileage, so it's a wash.

my question why would want to use E85?

I used E85 in the work van. Normally it gets 13mpg, got 2 tanks in a row of E85 by the end of the 2nd tank I got 8mpg.
The E85 was not 1/3 cheaper than gas so why bother

My 07' is a Flex Fuel and it has a black cap, but says to use either Unleaded or E-85 on the fuel door. Maybe in 2008 they had to change to yellow to meet a new standard.
