upper ball joint question

Default upper ball joint question

ok guys help me out, i need an upper ball joint... do i HAVE to replace the whole upper control arm? i was gonna do this tomorrow but i now my plans have changed and i have to go to arkansas tomorrow morning and i dont have time to get my upper control arm replaced and then have my allignment done and all that. if i can just replace the ball joint in the control arm i can do that tonight.

Yes, you have to replace the A arm and ball joint as a unit. It's 1 part.

its not that hard of a job. I did mine over a year ago. never got an alignment and all is fine. if you got it done you could go on your trip and get the alignment when you get back.

ive done it on my old truck but it was a 97, and like you said it wasnt hard but i thought an alignment was a must after that? i live in memphis but i have to drive to forrest city at 430 tomorrow morning. and my ball joint aint squeeking, its knockin! like its got some play inside the joint and the last thing i need is for my tire to fold up under my truck doin 70 down the interstate

Replacing the upper control arm is 100x easier than dealing with pressing ball joints in and out...

i went fishing this past saturday and on my way there i kept hearing this noise i thought it was a bottle bouncing around in the bed of my truck so i ignored it.. then i heard a pop, and looked it my mirrior and saw black rubber looking stuff flying everywhere. so i kinda slowed down, none of my tires were gone, it was still driving good, so i pulled over to check my front end and got looking around and a fog light bulb was hanging in my face i thought oh wow better put that back where it goes...annnnd its gone.. my fog light some how fell out and exploded into a bunch of pieces going down the road. now i have a hole in my bumper with no light lol i thought i would share that, i got a good laugh about it.

as a matter of fact its the one you can see in my avatar.
