Default Upgrading OEM wheels

Hey guys,
I recently sold my dream F-150, and downgraded in order to pay for an engagement ring, and save for a wedding.

I ended up with a 2007 F-150 XL 2wd, it actually isn't that bad of a truck, but I would like to upgrade the wheels and tires. I don't want to do anything stupid, its only a V6 2wd. But i found a great set of the 18" FX4 wheels with brand new 255-70-R18 tires on them.

My question is, will these fit on the 2wd XL without doing an mods to the truck, lift, leveling, wheel spacers, etc??

thanks for your help guys/gals!!

Those are 32x10.0R18, so you'll be fine width wise. I'd pull out the tape measure and make sure you'll be okay height wise, that's where you are cutting it close.

thanks. If they are too big, is a 275-65-R18 better? I am confused on this sizing. My understanding that the second number is the percentage of the width, that is in turn the height of the side will, correct? So the 275-65-R18 has a smaller side wall(height) but are those then too wide??

Thanks for your insight.

First number is the width in mm, 25.4 mm per inch.
255 = 10"
275 = 10.8"

Second is aspect ratio - sidewall percentage of width.

So 255/70 has a 10"x70%, or 7" sidewall.

Tire diameter is 2x sidewall + rim, so a 255/70R18 is 7x2+18, or 32".
275/65R18 would be 10.8x65%x2+18, or 32".

So the only difference is the 275 is wider by 3/4".

Thanks for "tire size simplified"!! That is a great explanation!!!

thanks again, very informative!!
I guess I will just replace my little baby tires with the same size as came from the factory, and wish I still had my 5.4L 4x4. Its a heck of a deal, but I think those 32"s would make the 4.2L 2wd I have now, really drag, barely move.
thanks again

Here is a link where you can put in your tire size and then compare to other sizes.
