Default AUX help

Hello,
I have researched about the AUX function of the stock unit. I have a rear DVD entertainment system, and planed on getting a in-dash double din DVD player made by pioneer. I was hoping someone in this community would have a good understanding of the rear DVD system, the stock dash unit, and the AUX connection. I disconnected the AUX unit hoping that the rear DVD system would still power on and play DVDs, and be able to use the headphones. It did not work at all except for being able in insert the DVD. I was hoping to splice in power from the aux cable from an aftermarket wire harness that plugs into the stock AUX harness into the aftermarket power lead from the main harness for the head unit. I do not understand how the rear DVD gets power to the LCD and even if I would be able to use headphones with the rear DVD system since it seems that the speakers would not be connected. Any information and/or advise would be helpful. I am going to talk to a Ford mechanic specializing in the radio/entertainment systems of Fords around Wednesday this week to see what my options are.

Thanks,
Steve

The operation of the RSE is controlled by the stock head unit via CAN bus (digital data signal). In order to replicate this, you'll need an integration device like Metra's axxess afdi-rse-01

Hey I appreciate your help. I figured the stock unit had something to do with it. I talked to a ford tech that specializes in aftermarket audio and entertainment systems, and said it is just a rewiring job. He quoted me $350.00 approximately to install the radio, wire harness and mounting bracket I will purchase later on my own. I will investigate "the Metra's axxess afdi-rse-01", and go from there.

Again, thanks,
Steve

$350 is a lot for an hour of work, I'd probably do it for a 12 pack of Coors Light if you lived closer.
