Default Upgrade headlight bulbs

What are the best bulbs to upgrade to? I read some mixed reviews on the silverstars. I'm looking for the whitest and brightest bulbs so the will match my led cubes I'm running as fogs which are like a 5000k. I had HIDs and they suck! I know a retrofit is my best bet but dont have the funds for them now but will do them down the line..

There is a forum called candlepowerforum.com and they recommend Phillips xtreme vision. They say are the best hands down for halogens.

^^^Or I prefer the Philips Crystal Vision Ultras. I have the Philips Xtreme Vision in my 07 Expedition and the Philips Crystal Vision Ultra in my truck. I like the Crystal Visions better.

Oh and the Crystal Visions are whiter, but dont "reach" as far as the Xtremes, something to consider.

Okay Mikey, you owe me. My teeth hurt from being out in the cold taking these pics!

These are crappy cellphone pics, but you get the idea, Philips Crystal Vision Ultras on the right on my truck and Philips Xtreme vision on the left on my wifes Expedition:

I put Nokya Hyper Yellow in the fogs on both of them, here they are for comparison:

You can see how the Ultras are whiter with that hint of blue

I'm wondering how much my 9 year old OEM headlight bulbs have "faded"
I'm not really off road or in the boonies much at all....so haven't worried about it
But since replacing interior & backup bulbs w/LED I'm thinking more light is not a bad thing

Interesting read about premium bulbs:
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...ulbs/index.htm

just checked & they have a 2 pak of the Ultra's on Amazon for $21.49 w/free shipping

Amazon.com: Philips 9008 CrystalVision Ultra Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive Amazon.com: Philips 9008 CrystalVision Ultra Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive

^^^ Thats a good price, about what I paid. Compared to the price and lifespan of the Sylvania Silverstars (which I have tried and HATE), the Philips bulbs are amazing. I will suggest those bulbs time and time again.
