Default Update on my 5.4 issue.....

Sooooooo...after having some idling/surging issues resurface along with a very audible tick, my mechanic popped the passenger side valve cover off today........He found a rocker arm that had "froze-up" enough to wear down a lobe on the cam.....2 other rocker arms were showing a little wear as well....replacing cam/all rocker arms/VCT sensor on that side...will be doing the other side as soon as my wallet gets over the shock with all of the $$$$ I've been putting out lately..lol.......The cam phasers/timing chain were replaced by previous owner, and still look good....Positive note is that the inside looks super clean, so maybe there is some hope.?????....

Same happened to me. I put a right side cam in mine. Still rocking 4 years later. Never touched the drivers side

It sounds like what i'm about to go thru. Im pretty sure theres a similiar issue in my truck but being an 05 with 200k I might just wait til the whole engine goes and replace it with a crate motor. if you don't mind me asking.... how much is your mechanic charging you to replace the rocker arm?

New cam....all new rocker arms on that side...new VCT sensor, and having a couple of other non-related issues fixed is totalling around $1200.....
