I've had my 06 Screw-5.4L since new, so no problem of sludge build up. I did my first oil change around 6mos/3K and put in Mobil 1. I hadn't used any oil before then, but noted I was using some oil and the blue smoke @ startup when it sat a week or more. It never uses oil on long trips when towing my trailer-even thru the mtns. But in city traffic, I use about 0.5-1 qt in about 2k. The blue smoke stopped about 2 yrs-30K ago. I think my rings may not have properly seated before I switched to full synthetic, but I can live with it. Have 60K on it now, change oil every 6mos, or about 5K with full synthetic oil.
