Default unsmooth driving issue

I have an 07 f150 CC LB, bought the truck used with 70k. At just about 100k now. Truck doesn't ride smooth, even on new fresh paved roads that I drive everyday in other vehicles that ride like on glass. The issue has progressivly gotten worse. U-joints are fine, shocks are good, possible left front tie rod going but its not that loose, I have had the tires rebalanced 3 times, last time being from Ford dealer, found bent rear right axle. Just this last weekend, I pulled and replaced the axle, bearing, and seal, Problem still there. Almost feels like a lugging or miss fire at times especial in OD, but computer checked out no miss fires recoreded. It's been tuned up anyways did plugs around 5k ago.

Almost with the vibration/lugging feeling the bed seems to have a lot of movement, especially when hitting a bump in the road. Seems to surge through the entire chasis when hitting bump, a recoil feeling i guess.

Anyone else have this unsmooth ride problem? If so any insite on what to look for? Thanks

I am having the same issue. I have an 08 FX2. I have changed the shocks, struts, and I am in the process of changing the ball joints. I have only had time to do the driver side upper so far. The 2 front tires are new but the two rear are the ones that were on the truck when I bought it. I have had it for about 7 months and didn't notice the rough ride until recently. That doesn't mean it wasn't there. I have thought it is possibly a motor mount or transmission mount causing the excessive vibration throughout the truck but they appear to be fine. I just can not think what else could be causing it. I hope the ball joints will make some difference. If you have any luck please let me know and ill do the same.

I have the problem too. Kinda feels like something is out of balance. All new shocks all around, brand new inner/outer tierods, tires balanced, alignment... Can't seem to pin it down. My lower ball joints are going out, so i'm going to do those but i don't think its caused are the LBJs. I am going to loosen the ebrake cable and see if that does anything. Also going to replace the steering shaft since there is some play in the steering wheel. (Inner/outer tierods, rack and pinion are all brand new, so the play must be in the shaft I am assuming??)

could it be the torque converter? i know they can be problematic in these trucks from time to time.

Those with the vibration, do you find it goes away occasionally? I have what I can only can describe as a wiggle when I hit a bump under my left foot, right above the drivers side tie rod end. The rest of the time, I have a rough vibration, almost like a rough idle, but I feel it at speed. New shocks, tires, alignment...at alignment, they told me ball joints were fine. I don't feel the vibration in the steering wheel at any rate...

I have thought maybe it was the emergency brake, but I loosened it up, and it didn't change anything.

Yea, there are rare (very short) times when it goes away. I can also feel the "wiggle"/shake under my left foot. Starting to think its something in the drivetrain, not the suspension. Maybe a bushing is going out on the tranny/tcase? Maybe it is the torque converter?

How did you loosen the parking brake cable?

Sean082, sorry to be off topic but did you have any problems changing your plugs? Any tricks for a guy about to give it a shot? Now back to topic: Have you checked your rear diff? You said you had to replace your axel, maybe you're missing a tooth back there from when it was originally damaged.

Mine also seems to go away at times but it never drives as smooth as I think it should. I have also noticed that it becomes really bad when applying the brake right before the vehicle comes to a complete stop. My first thought was the rotors were warped but once I changed them the vibration was still there. It feels kinda like you are driving on a cheese grater dirt road. I am beginning to think it is drivetrain related also instead of suspension.

Do you have a LS differential? I know, mine shudders from time to time because of too little friction modifier. Makes it feel like the wheels are off balance.

I do have the LSD. Interesting..

I am going to lift the rear wheels off the ground and get the rear wheels going at a low speed and see if the 'vibration' is still there. This will at least eliminate the question of suspension or drivetrain.
