you said that it orig had a 5.4 and was swapped to a 4.6. Curious what info are/were you basing that on? Why do you think it has been swapped? and why do you think it was once a 5.4v?

4.6: if oil filter is metric it is a Romeo. It Std it is Windsor.
This truck was my father's truck from Florida. He told me the engine was swapped out at 220k with a 4.6L.... not sure where he got 5.4 from. Based on what you showed me with the VIN, it originally had a 4.6 Romeo. I need to replace timing chain guides/ tensioners lash adjusters and rockers. I just want to make sure I buy the right parts. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. Also might need to replace headers.

It sounds to me like the engine was replaced, but just 4.6 replacment of 4.6.
I think you just order your parts for the 2004 F150 w/4.6 engine they should be correct.
The 2004 f150 only came in a 2v I believe. The 3 valve 4.6 didn't make it to trucks until 2009 iirc.

that is correct. I think (pre 09) mustangs had the 3v though, which seems to add to confusion
