second good part to this build, is that I can avoid the dreaded spark plug change and throw my heads in the trash! LOL

Obviously I'm biased but the vast majority of suspension upgrades available for the Raptor reuse the stock LCAs. That alone is a testament to durability. I don't know of anyone that has broken one and these guys beat on their trucks.

As far as capable, length of travel is important but it isn't as important as well sorted shocks and springs ALONG with that extra travel. That means the 12.5 inches (as described in my earlier post) with the right shocks and springs will outperform 14 inches of travel that uses shocks and springs that aren't as well sorted.

Obviously a very expensive ultra long travel setup with the right shocks and springs will outperform all else, but at what cost? Setup properly the modified Raptor setup will be more than you'll ever need, especially if you add bumpstops. The Raptor guys are hammering these setups at 80-100mph off road.

This depends on your mechanical confidence and welding ability. If you lookup xtreme 4x4 episodes, Ian does a good job explaining how to measure and lay out a 4-link.

I will say that if you plan on mudding, you will need to upgrade the front diff and axles. Lengthening the axles increases the mechanical leverage of the tires over the diff - meaning it will be much easier to snap an axle when a spinning tire suddenly grabs traction. There are many options out there. Check out the ultimate adventure ecoboost build from Randy Ellis Design - they did a custom Dana 60 (IIRC) IFS that runs 40's and survived the Off Road UA 2011.

Another option, stock the termi powerplant will support 800hp all day. More with turbo's. My recommendation would be to offset the turbo gain by a reduction in boost to ensure no detonation occurs because of the increased heat and load from running off-road.

What I mean is, if the gain from turbos is say ~70hp (at the power levels you are talking) by eliminating parasitic loss - then back down on the boost a point or so. That way you are providing a little more cushion in your tune to allow for the extreme conditions you will be exposing the engine to by running a heavy truck with large tires in the dirt - wide *** open

I think for the time being I will be keeping the front stock but with the longer CV's, I have other trucks to play in the mud with,

I was contemplating scrapping the 4wd just because with that much HP and 37s no CV will last, and I will defiently look into the D60, never seen an IFS one before!

I am still trying to decide what I want to do with that whole setup, I no I could save a few bucks with 2x4 but I like the idea of 4wd, maybe not to use it all the time but if I needed it and some gentle throttle application could be helpful.

as for the 4 Link, My welding ability is fine, but the design part is what gets me, I remeber catching part of that episode actually will have to go back and take another look, much better at learning by seeing and doing than reading

The trophy truck we support was $300k new, without an engine. The shocks on a trophy truck start at $3k each x8!

Good luck with the build, turbo trucks are starting to come up big!

They are hit and miss. Alot of good engines came out of them a few years back but lately they have been having alot of engine failures and not honoring their warranty. An MMR oil pump cost me a $10k engine I would never buy from them again.
