Change your (6 1/2 quarts)oil to whatever type you use plus a quart of Lucas oil treatment it'll take all the ticking sound away trust me I've been in your shoes.....

I wish it was just ticking. I had the VCT solenoids replaced and now it runs worse. Not only does it shake and sound like it is going to explode, it is making noises it has never made during acceleration. It is also stalling when I stop and shift the truck into reverse.

We offer a permanent solution to your 4.6L / 5.4L 3 valve modular engine's well known cam phaser issues. This does indeed include a tuner as well. Our kit will stop this issue from coming back again and save possibly thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs.

The cam phaser noise repair kit shown below includes everything needed to repair the problem for good. Adding this kit to a 4.6/5.4L 3V car or truck will help ensure that your cam phasers don’t suffer premature failure again. It will eliminate any knocking noise heard from the front valve cover/timing cover area related to the phasers as well.

The kit includes the MyCalibrator Tuner, Livernois Lockouts, OEM Quality Phaser Bolts, and Livernois Timing Chain Wedge Tool. By locking the phasers fully advance and then tuning the vehicle to run properly the problem will be gone for good.

Here is a link to the kit on our site and more information as well. Feel free to give us a call , PM, or email if you would like to place an order or dicuss this further.

What type of Lucas Oil is that? I'm finding Heavy Duty Oil Stablizer and Pure Synthetic Oil Stablizer.

I'm assuming since I use full synthetic oil that I'd use the Pure Synthetic Stablizer right?

I have now had a conversation with two ford dealers about this problem. Have been told my local dealership took me for a ride. When the VCT solenoids seem to fail it is just the start of a deeper issue. At the pace I type it would take me all day to type it out. Just know when this problem starts it is the beginning of the end for your engine, so don't waste your hard earned money.

We've had customers with vehicles that only have 60-70,000 miles on them, and already have dreaded the cam phaser issues all 3 valve modular engines will have. We developed these lockouts for brand new engines with performance mods such as camshaft and spring upgrades, supercharger / turbochargers, etc that will destroy the phasers from added strain. We then have found over the years that there is a need for this on higher mileage stock engines as well. We are now selling these through the major retail auto parts stores as well as engine rebuild facilities that put them in every reman engine they sell. This allows them to sell an engine they know is never going to come back for warranty due to phaser issues.

That being said we have customers that have been told the same, that they need a new engine. Once they lock the phasers and tune properly they have put another 100,000+ on the vehicles with nothing but normal maintenance and up keep.

Our solution was also recently featured on Power Nation, and Truck Tech on Spike TV / CBS sports as shown here.
