Default Tuner or intake?

Alright guys, i have an 04 supercrew fx4 stock, 2.5" level and 325,60,18 toyo A/T. I am looking at the best mod to up my mpg. Either a programmer, like the edge, or a cold air intake. Something bolt on. If any of you have any suggestions or any other fairly cheap items that would help please let me know. thanks!

To get the most out of a tuner, you should do exhaust and intake and have it programmed to accept these mods. But most people say that a tuner is the best bang for your buck.

You could do the GOTTS mod for your intake then buy your tuner. Most of the people on this site like the Gryphon tuner the best for its ability to get new tunes for different mods you do in the future. It looks like a old edge but is painted differnet colour.

If you put an intake on your truck, you might start throwing CELs (lean).

Buy the tuner (PHP) and run it for a while. If you still think you need an intake mod, try the Gotts.

Absolute best case, you're probably going to see a 3 MPG increase with the tuner, Gotts mod, and custom tune.

Your not going to notice much with the intake. I would do exhaust before a cold air intake.

I haven't heard much on the Gryphon tuners. if i were to buy one of those they come with pre-programmed tunes right? or is it necessary to have the custom tunes done and sent to you?

Yes they come with three canned tunes.

Only if you want custom tunes. You can have up to three custom tunes and any combination of custom and canned tunes (up to three).

If you ever see yourself having both of these down the road I would get the intake now then get a tuner later so you can get custom tunes made for the intake and chip combo.

TB might but one of the most useless mods for these trucks ever.

Sounds good to me, also about the Gotts mod, i am not very familiar with this either. have any of you done it? i have seen a few people say that it didnt add much improvement but am considering trying it because of the cheap prices.
