Default True duals or single muffler

Just curious if true duals are quieter or louder than a singled muffler?

What exactly does it depend on? I'm looking at running dual flowmasters turned down by the axle compared to a single flowmaster ran the same way.

It depends on the muffler you get.. Flowmasters I think were the louder ones compared to magnaflow. 5.4 with the tru duals of flowmasters sounds real good but its not deep like a dodge. 4.6 with the tru duals of flowmasters sounds amazing and is deeper than a mustang with the same motor.

Oops yes tru dual flowmaster is louder than a single muffler.

Lots of threads about favorite mufflers. search for f150 + exhaust on youtube to hear some. Have it done at an exhaust shop, just buy your own muffler(s) and or x pipe.
You will save a few $$ that way and it is cheaper than a cat back system.
sound = what muffler you buy. x pipe will even out the sound of true duels, make it a bit quieter

I've got the 4.6 so I may go with the duals.

I've done the research on muffler type before. I think I'd probably like the magnaflow better but I have 2 flowmaster 40 just laying around. They're used but barely. My buddy put them on his truck and didnt like them. He gave them to me. I think I'll just put one of them on for now and save some money for a full exhaust.

If you want it loud, get a Cherry Bomb Extreme. I had one on my '96 5.8L Bronco and it sounded good. I'm thinking about switching out the Flowmaster on my truck now to the Extreme. And they're pretty cheap.
