Default Truck bucks sometimes

Yesterday I was driving my truck up the interstate and it bucked about 3 or 4 times then it quit. Its like driving over some bumpy terrain, but on a smooth highway. It's done it before, just not every time. I would take it to the ford dealer, but it probably wouldn't do it. I thought it was coming from the driveshaft or u joint, but I'm not sure. What do y'all think it is?

Thanks,

Phil

At least I'm not the only one. I just wish I knew what caused it.

Wow, haven'tbeen on the site in some time - come back with looking for any info on the exact new problem I have! Mine started 2 and 1/2 fuel tanks ago, from a cheaper "non-brand" fuel (of which I never had gone to before). So I said gas! Went and got a few mass quantities of varying auto supply additives, filled up half a tank with Chevron 89 octane to add extra zest = better, but not gone.

I was thinking maybe a water extractor/fuel stabiliztion additive such as Stabil or maybe the "oil change" places that treat the fuel system through a vacuum from a can? Then there is the dealership???

how many miles, and when were the spark plugs changed?
Alot of people overlook the common 5.4l misfire as a transmission issue.
The misfire caused sever bucking on my truck, swapped plugs and coils and it runs like a champ now.

Do a spark plug search on here for a ton more info.

Yup, my 06 is about to hit 100k. It started bucking, and it was cylinder 3 misfiring. Since I just got it, the guy who sold it to me replaced it. Went back to normal, then started bucking again. Autozone said it's Cylinder 2 now. Time to swap 'em all out.

My truck only has 77,000 miles on it. You think the spark plugs need replacing?

I couldn't tell you one way or the other. I got a check engine light for misfiring cylinder both times... so if there's no light, maybe not? I don't know a ton about autos.

Its a misfire, change your plugs and coils and all will be fine. Mine did it at 70k miles never lit a light or threw a code.. Truck is fine now after the tune up.

I priced getting the spark plugs changed today. I'm going to change the fuel filter first just to make sure that isn't it. If it still does it, then I'll change the spark plugs.
