Default Trouble

Every time I turn left or right in my truck the whole back feels like I'm running over rocks. It feels bumpy. Does that sound like it would need a realignment done? Anyone think they know what it could be?

Sharp turn or gradual turn? From a stop or under way? Do you have a limited slip diff?

Both for first two questions. And I don't know if it's a slip diff. I'll have to check in the morning.

You need to change your rear end fluid ASAP, add friction modifier from ford parts department and it should go away. Remember to go to a lot and do slow figure 8's to work the new fluid in.

Even if the diff fluid you get says it is for limited slips, add the friction modifier anyway.

This is assuming the spider/side gears have all their teeth. Take a good look at all of them when you change fluid. Look for any chunks missing or cracks, or if you find chunks in the bottom of the diff.

I had the same issue a couple of months ago, I have a LSD mind you. Real sharp turns would cause my rear to shake like crazy. A rear fluid change with friction modifier really helped out.

Note: The gear oil I used had friction modifier in it, but once I did the fluid change it still trembled a little bit on sharp turns. It was better, but still there. It wasn't until I dumped a 4oz bottle of Motorcraft Friction Modifer in there that it completely went away.

So even if your gear oil says it has Friction Modifer in it, keep a bottle of the Motorcraft Friction Modifer on hand.
