Default Trasmission cooler lines leaking, need some help

Hi guys,

So my 04 5.4 has a slow leak in the transmission cooler line, right behind the front bumper. It slowly seeps fluid out at the metal crimp fitting. Where the metal hose turns into rubber and rhen feeds into the actual cooler.

How bad is it to leave this issue without fixing. I check my fluid level weekly and after about 6 months i dont see the slightest bit of a drop in actual fluid level on the dipstick.

Also ford quoted me 460 to replace it and said the only way to fix it was to replace the entire system as they didnt just sell the damaged line replacement, it all comes in a kit. I look on all of the other parts websites and i dont see anywhere that states its a kit, is the entire kit necessary an how har is this to fix? It seems pretty accessable.

You dont need a kit. a short piece of oil resistant hose and a couple of hose clamps will sufice. just remove the leaking hose and cut it away from the steel fittings and the steel line and replace it using hose clamps. This not a high pressure line so it will work just fine. Total cost under$10 and 30mins time.

I didn't even replace the hose. Just put heater hose clamps behind the crimps. Has worked perfectly for about 4 years.
