Looking for opinions from experience. I recently had to replace the transmission in my '05 F150 XLT. Its the 5.4 L engine and I believe its the 4r75w transmission, 4x4. I went with the best warranty I could find but I honestly feel this transmission is not quite strong enough for the engine. It only had 75k miles on it when it broke. And the new transmission shifts rough sometimes at a cruising speed into OD which is how the original transmission felt as well. Also, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm's she squeals at me! It has a 6" lift on it with 35's.
After reading a bit I found some folks saying there are upgrades that can be added to this transmission is that true? I will be looking into it in the future as I am very fond of this truck. I want to have someone make it stronger.
About 10 years ago I had a transmission rebuilt that supported a Ford 5.0 HO engine. The guy who rebuilt it said he added some modifications to it in order to make it stronger. I'm looking for that kind of work!
