Default Transmission problems!!!

So about a week ago my 2004 F-150 with 76,000 miles started to buck a lot when I would accelerate from a stop. The rpms would rise and the truck would buck then drop back down. So I thought it was the coils or plugs so I changed them all out. But it still does it. I drive it a little farther to see what else it does. While I was in fourth gear the truck started to coast like it was in neutral. I pressed the pedal and the rpms rose but the truck didn't accelerate. Along with the truck trying to figure out which gear to stay in it also surged as well. I honestly don't know where to go from here. There is no CEL. And there aren't any codes either.

I was giving your post a bump! You said you did not know where to go from here, so I assumed you exhausted all your skills and were at a dead end!

So I gave your post a bump by suggesting maybe time for a shop or dealer!

are there any causes besides actual mechanical components wearing out? The truck has low miles I just didn't think the tranny would start doing this so soon.

you're right I think I'm gonna have to have someone look at it, I was just trying to figure it out on my own.

Just the clutches slipping. It's usually only a matter of time. Me personally I wouldn't spend the money for a fluid flush. I got about 5 months out of my last one after it started

so what would be the next step then? Rebuilding the transmission?

More than likely. Dealership and shop cost gonna run around 4k. Might could find a junk yard or Craigslist for 700-1300 buts it's a gamble
