Default transmission possibly. help!

So I was pulling into my nieghborhod today and all of a sudden I started losing throtle response. My rpms went up into the 3 or 4 thousand while it felt like I was almost in neutral. It would pick back up if I forced it to down shift then back into drive but after braking to turn it dropped out again. Please don't tell me its the tranny

Deep down I'm sure it is but I was hoping someone would say it could've been something cheaper. Anyone got a ballpark on how much fixin or replacing it runs?

It sounds like the clutches aren't holding. It could just need a trans flush but it might be the pump too

If you already put it in the shop its a little late but Im assuming you checked the fluid level if it was low you could have been sucking air in a hard turn or braking
