cat back exhaust would have nothing to do with a slipping auto trans....unless you removed the O2 sensors, and you have trouble codes causing the PCM to be stuck in closed loop ("limp home mode"). Do you have trouble codes?

When (if ever) is the last time you had a transmission flush? How many miles are on the transmission fluid?

You tow a lot? It's possible your fluid is the culprit if it has high mileage; but these automatics are known to get slip problems and require service. Do a search and read past threads. I hope for your sake it is not a transmission (internal) problem; they are pricey to repair.

I WOULD NOT wait at all, for two reasons:

1) It's slipping now, and will only get worse. This heats up the transmission fluid rendering it useless, causing more internal damage.

2) You nor the dealer know any prior maintenance. It could be very used and abused.

A transmission flush will cost you about $100.00 to $130.00 to do (not a simple pan drop; that only replaces about 4 quarts; the flush gets all fluid out, about 9 quarts).

A new or rebuilt transmission: 2 to 3 grand with labor. Don't wait.

i agree, do it now before it leaves you stranded or put in a good used one, but still you have no guarantees

If you have a warrantee, then why the heck would you even consider waiting on getting a slipping transmission repaired?

Am I missing something here? Being stranded out in the middle of traffic because the transmission gave up is not a good thing. Think of your safety; better yet, think of the safety of others that have to share the road with you.

what was the deal with the driveshaft support bushing? did you do it yourself? i feel like i have the same issue, but its not all the time, only after the truck has been running for 10 or so miles.

any more details that might help me out?
