very sad, only 75000 miles.... i love the truck, but i have to say, all my previous (japanese) cars, i sold well over 150000 and the expensive maintenance was timing chain replacement....
I'd do this. http://www.levelten.com/Level_10_For...o1800-5000.htm Less expensive than the dealer and likely a better product. If you can remove the tranny yourself (not difficult, just need the proper jack/adapter), then you can save some money and be better off in the long run.

not bad, but at $2500 + $250 shipping and $250 shipping back my core, it will be starting in $3000 + labor + trans cooler.... so, agree, probably better in the long run, but its kind of expensive today... and i dont think i can handle the transmision change on my own... its pretty heavy and no really much mechanical inclined friend
available....

I had this same problem on a 2004 F150 with a 4R70W xmission. They are horribly designed and the forward lock ring fails which splits the forward drum. A replacement ring is available to rectify this problem but the xmission will have to be rebuilt due to the clutches not being locked together and severe slipping has occurred. The OE ring has a gap at the ends and the pressure eventually causes it to fail. The replacement ring is an overlapping spiral ring that engages the groove 360 degrees.
