Ok so when the truck is running the bottom line on the solenoid sucks air... in 2wheel should with the top line off will the air be sucking through the solenoid?... mine does then in 4 x it stops... however my friend has a 2003 and its the opposite of mine.. his all works fine are the supposed to be different... the way i look at it is when you shut the engine off the hubs lock.. and it should not work like that... i think..

The solenoid is just a switching unit...all it does is open and close...it controls a double air line that runs to each IWE....it either allows vacuum to disengage your 4WD or vents the vacuum to engage..vacuum is generated by the engine this system is made to hold this vacuum when the engine is not running thus holding your hubs in the un-locked position. If you have a leak in the air lines or the solenoid is bad this could cause a partial engagement or even stuck in 4WD. Buy or rent a vacuum pump to test this system... Hope this helps...

so i ordered that solenoid anyways.. 30 bucks.. but i had unplugged the one on my truck and put the fuses back in and it hasnt acted up yet.. so then i plugged the solenoid back in and it still hasnt done it.... also it will go into 4x while moving now with out making a sound... so i suppose it could be acting up and im just not hearing it cause it works??? and i got to thinking, could it not have been goin into 4x while moving because my back tires were wore considerably more than the fronts? and they werent "syncronized".... i got all 4 the same time just during the summer months i have a pretty heavy foot... i just purchased new aftermarket rims and tires so all new all the same size.... and it works? the problem started before i switched over and this was the first time i tried with the new tires.... hmmmm?
