You got it man!! With how common this issue seems to be, and from the instances I've seen and one's I've discussed on this forum, I'd say the %'s are in your favor so be optimistic.

Good luck and let us know how it works out!!

Update:
The mechanic and I started at 9:05 putting it on the lift, 11:35 when we wrapped up. Opened it up, pulled it down, found one hook end of the clip, opened up the valve body and found the other jammed in a little chamber. Yanked the clip end out l, valve clicks back in. Filter change and just put it all back together.

PRO TIP...slip the retaining clip onto the top of the bottle jack before you jack up the servo to remove the broken clip. That way, you don't have to un-engage the jack and risk having the servo disengage from the band. Leaving the new clip on the neck of the bottle jack Saves a little hassle.

That's awesome news!!!

Let me know how it drives. If all else looked okay, your probably in good shape now!

It's always good to hear of a success story with a tranny, especially a cheap one.

Jljde I am planning tackling this over the weekend. do you recall how much Mercon 5 you needed to refill with? My pan filter changes take right at 4 qts on my truck so I'm buying a total of 10 to have on hand. Also besides the OD servo clip what other parts did you change? The film or gasket on valve body?

Also I am reading about a filter screen that is not necessary to reinstall as it is like that yellow plug that is a factory shipping measure and once in service is redundant and not needed. If that screen is not needed what does it look like?

IT takes 13.9 quarts total. After you've dropped the pan, replaced filter, reinstallled and filled the pan back up through the dipstick, You can disconnect the hose on the output side of the tranny cooler, start the engine, let it idle, pump out 2-3 quarts, shut it off, add 2-3 quarts of new fluid, and repeat the process until only new fluid is flowing out.

This is the only way I am aware of to get all the fluid from the tranny, torque converter, and lines. Maybe someone will chime in and offer a better option since there is no drain plug but this is how I've done mine and a friends and worked just fine. Some DYI video's about this on youtube as well.

Only run Mercon V.

I bought 13 and ended up taking 3 back. I imagine YMMV. I replaced the trans filter (no reason not to). Managed to not break the valve body film/gasket thing, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Just take your time, organize your bolts so you don't confuse yourself, wear clothes you can chuck (trans fluid everywhere when you drop the pan), and make sure you have a friend to help.
