Default Tranny problem

My trans works normally until warmed up. After shifting into park or turning it off for a bit, when i restart and shift to drive, it engages for a second then drops out of gear until I rev up a little then it engages hard and runs normally. If I start in first it engages fine. Is there an easy fix before I goto dealer? I've got an ext warranty. 2007 5.4, 41,000mi. Thanks.

Take it in...use what you paid for.

I hear ya. Just want to avoid the $200 deductible if just a fluid and filter change would help.

FWIW, a fluid change rarely fixes a trans problem. Chances are you need a rebuild. Save yourself $50 on a fluid/filter and put it towards your deductible.

Mileage is irrelevant, parts often fail long before they wear out.
