Default Dash lights dim

2006 F150 Lariat 4 door super crew.
Crank her up at night and all dash back lights are very dim, the dash and radio, in time they brighten up, and dim out randomly through out my drive. Truck can be just sitting there while it does it so I don't think its vibration/short type issue because hitting bumps and such doesn't affect it. The **** on dash that dims and brightens the light never worked, tried thumping it and playing with it and it doesn't make a flicker or anything. Think the switch is the problem or I have other issues?

Could possibly be your alternator or battery. All sorts of kooky electrical things start to happen when either one of them is starting to go out.

No its not that, battery good and strong, alt putting out good, and no other lights dim just the dash back lights.

"The **** on dash that dims and brightens the light never worked, "

If the switch doesn't work...replace it...that will most likely fix the flicker too.

Well started up truck tonight no dash backlights at all now. The weird thing about the ****, is even when lights were working moving the **** would not effect the lights at all. But I guess if the **** isn't working that would be the place to start.

go to a junk yard. You can get them pretty cheap. Make sure you buy the correct one though. There were 3 different models I believe.
