It's not your tranny.......and PLEASE for the love of a bearded magical dude; disregard anyone telling you anything OTHER than it being a misfire due to bad plugs and cops.

Change your plugs. Trust me.......the truck will feel brand new once you do, and the 'tranny' issue should be completely gone. If it's not look into your cops.
How many miles? The exact same thing happened to mine (around 135k). Have you had your computer updated recently? If not...don't

Mine started doing that slightly, before the update but afterwards it was really prevalent (update recommended by the dealership) . What's happening is the TQ Converter is locking up. There is something going on with the transmission programming not agreeing with the engine programming(words from the mechanic)...I drove on mine for about a year or so and one day I lost O/D = NEW or REBUILT TRANS.

The shop I took the truck to had to get Ford Engineer/Tech services help to help relearn and/or rewrite the program for the new trans. (once again, words of the mechanics)

I changed plugs first, along with a few 10's of other parts, problem was still there and narrowed it down to the trans...So I wouldn't rule it out just yet...

Here's a link to the thread that has the history of mine and a few others -

Look; if you changed your plugs and cops FIRST; then obviously they weren't the problem if the problem was still there.

I wrote my post the way I did because you and allot of other people on here are unkowingly scaring the crap out of other peeps here for no reason. And when they read that for you it was something more expensive, some choose to either sell the truck or get raped by a dealer in cost of fixing it.

The simpler solution should always be the first one tried, then go from there.....that's troubleshooting.

Well, sorry to have upset you sir...not the intention. Just trying to help the guy out since I HAVE experience with the exact problem he is describing.

I agree that troubleshooting is the way to go, that's what I did (changed the plugs and few 10's of other parts) and no where in my reply did I say sell it or get raped by the dealer...simply provided a little insight for the guy as to what may/may not be in store for a solution.

Anyways-

Let me know if the plugs change work, if so, you got lucky and I wish that was the case for me!

Exact same symptoms as yours. Bogging under light acceleration, at highway speeds and around town when coming out of turns ect. I posted a thread about it a few weeks ago and thought i had it fixed after replacing some coil packs. Problem was better but recently got worse especially in warm weather or after driving a while. It would come out of it if you gave it the gas. Well two days ago it was doing it on the highway and i decided to hammer down on the throttle in hopes of it throwing a code. Instead overdrive went bye bye and the tranny is now being rebuilt. I will at least be able to report back whether the rubuild solved the problem or not. My trans guy seems to think it is the throttle body, he is going to give it a good test run after the rebuild.

My 04 also does it when at about 40 mph up I can let off the gas give it more and it bogs down and feels like hitting bump. I talked to a tranny shop he said that the torque converter wasnt locking I got a 6 month warrany with mine cause I had the tranny rebuilt since I,lost reverse but the tranny guy said they sell some stuff at autozone and other parts stores. Its called dr.tranny shudder fix. I was told it would work I havent tried it yet since I got a warrany. When I get a few days off im just going to take mine back to the shop. Good luck man. If you do use that please tell us how it works.
