Default Tranny

When driving at maybe 35-45 mph and accelerating I hear and feel a shudder, similar to what you hear and feel when running over the lane warning vibration. It seems to be only when moving through the gears to the desired speed.
I cannot determined at what rpm it shows up. My hearing aids are not working properly and someone the other day said it sounds like the tranny is whining, I could not hear it. But I have heard something at times.

I checked the level of the fluid and it is okay, No engine warning light or trouble code shows up. Any idea what to look for? I atr first thought maybe a fuel line was clogged somewhat.

Have someone with a obd2 scanner that cad read mode 6 data look for misfires. Often misfires at that speed are mistaken for tranny problems.

Many years ago my 07 5.4 had similar vibrations....That I & my mechanic thought was tranny issues !!
I took it to a tranny shop & after extensive trouble shooting & a extensive test drive the tranny tech suggested I take it back to my repair shop & install new plugs..
I & my mechanic were amazed...........It fixed my problem??

While driving today, not far, a warning beeper sounded and the battery light, the check engine light, and a symbol that looks like a wrench lit up, then went out quickly. I was and made it oj kay, I do have an app on my iPhone that reads trouble codes from a unit plugged into the code reader port; of course it would not work today! It has worked before, but for real checking I rely on a better reader. I drove on home and the warning lights would come and then got off, then come on and off. I finally located my better reader and it showed no active or stored codes at all.

And regarding the previous comment about spark plugs being easier than a tranny -- not sure about that. So much stuff on the engine I cannot find the plugs!Kind of wish for the simpler days of the '70s.

I guess a trip to a mechanic is in order.

It made its visit today and #3 coil pack was bad so that was replaced. They checked for the whining sound I hear when riding, pronounced when windows are down (and more easily heard when my hearing aids work which hn is seldom), and they determined it is the serpentine belt, the can get a kit from NAPA I believe they said with belt and pulleys to replace. So back in next week when they get them in, too late to get them today.

Took the truck back today for the belt and pulley replacement. The pulley connected to the cast metal piece was bad, it squeaked when turning by hand and the other pulleys were worn one pretty bad, The belt itself was split apart for over a foot. Now I am in better shape.

So did the original shudder complaint go away with the new coil in place?

I have driven it and have noticed no shudder or whining/squealing. I have an app on my iPhone (OBD Fusion) that connects via Bluetooth to a module inserted into the code reader port. It worked fine before when I used it, it reads and tell the codes, it also shows a lot of info if you know what it is saying. For instance, it will show the gas milage as you travel along, it will show your speed, and a lot of engine info such as boost pressure.

Anyway, after the work was recently done and I was driving some I decided to use it again, but for some reason it would not connect to the module, so I quit trying. After a while, the same warning lights came on as the other evening - the battery light, the yellow tool symbol, and check engine; the temperature gauge stopped reading and went to zero. I was just getting on I-70 then so could not really stop safely, not at the area anyway. The lights did not go out as they did the other evening. I for some reason removed the OBD Fusion monitor from the reader and the lights went out, and have not come back on. So I am thinking that monitor is bad now, nice too have but not really needed, at least not for my use. I do have another code reader.

We will see if gas mileage imported some, I do not expect by a lot .
