Track racing
hello im new to this forum, i just bought a 04 f150 4.6l supercrew cab 4x4. I want to take my truck to the local track to race against my friends thundra but i dont know if i should go to 2nd gear and turn overdrive off or what? whats the set up for track racing?? and like i said previously this is strictly track racing no street racing, thanks
I just drove my friends reg cab short bed 2wd 4.6. Felt like it had no *****, but it was faster than my ole girl. Off the line sucks but you MIGHT be able to get him way down yonder.
Aka, don't make any bets

if its the new 5.7l tundra you would get whooped lol, those things are a beast. if i ever got one, would be a reg cab 5.7 with a 2/4 drop and 20s lol, blacked out. although i dont think they put the 5.7 in the reg cabs lol
Take everything out of the truck you don't need. Floor mats, jack, battery cables, sub box, junk in the doors and console.
Remove your spare tire and anything in the bed. Remember every 100lbs is a tenth second which is a.car length.
You want your fuel to be between 1/4 and 3/8 of a tank. Again weight.
Inflate your front tires 10psi above normal or to whatever the max is on the side wall. This is to reduce rolling resistance. Reduce your back tires to 25psi. This will help with traction off the off the line.
Turn OD off.
Don't run through the water. Drive around it. Do a burnout but not a massive one as it won't help.
Get some practice runs in before you race your buddy. At least 4. Try sitting there at the line giving it gas between 2000-2,400rpms while holding the brake and remember to leave when the last yellow lights. Run twice like this. Then twice like this. Just sit there at idle with your foot on the brake (like you would at any red light) and when the last yellow lights up smack that gas pedal to the floor.
See which of these methods produced the best time and repeat. Only this time with your buddy in the other lane.
