This has been helpful. My XL had the cheap looking steel grey rims on it and a buddy of mine had a nice set of xlt rims laying around with the same size tires so I swapped them. I didn`t know it had this feature either so now I`m staring at an orange light and having to clear the error message everytime I start.

I just find it amusing how the OP`s question was can you disable the tpms not can I get everyones opinion on whether I should........

You can make a TPMS bomb.. and hide it in the truck some where.. the monitering system will think the sensors are in the wheels... search TPMS bomb on google.. It will tell you what to do

basically you put all your sensors in a pvc plastic tube capped on both ends with a valve stem in one end... pressurize the capsel... hide it in the truck somewhere...get in..sit down..shut up and hold on

Because Chevy is trying to play off a government mandated piece of equipment as an option? I don't know.

Fun fact about Chevy: When my wife and I were shopping for a new vehicle for her last fall, we checked out some Chebbys. A spare tire (donut) is now an "option". They come stock with a plug kit. The cars do, I'm not certain about their trucks.

Dont turn this into a chevy versus ford crap..... Donuts have been an option for awhile... you get a donut or a full size tire..

You miss read that. A plug kit was standard. A donut was an option costing 120 dollars.

the cheapest way is the TPMS bomb... get some new sensors, and hide them in the truck without installing them. the right way to do it, will be to reinstall the old sensors after talking with the manager, or to have the new sensors installed in the new tires.

God damn, what a roller coaster thread. I'm not gonna get into it with anyone, but TPMS is hilarious to me. I understand why the law was implemented, for stupid people who don't notice their tires are sagging and nanny gov't legislaters need to feel good at night, but I would much rather put black tape on over the light window for it than replace them or install them in my new wheels. I let my tires down to 10-13 psi on the beach trails here, F that light.

Well, I will say this about TPMS. Most all of my driving is in town...I went on a tarpon huntin' trip about a year ago to the Keys. My TPMS indicator came on and all of my tires seem alright, one was about 6psi low, which is the threshold that trips the light. I stopped and filled up. The light came on again about 20min later. I checked again and found that one of the valvestems was dry rotted and leaching air. I had to change the tire at 230am in the pouring rain on the side of the Sawgrass Expressway. None of the tires had ANY indication of sagging, remember these are truck tires with XL load ratings, they have reinforced sidewalls for a reason. I have loaded a pallet worth of 24pk waters in the bed and had barely any sag from the tires, just the springs.
