Default Tire size/computer question ????

I want to put 18X9 wheels on my 2004 F-150 SuperCrew. It now has 17X8 wheels on it. If I go up to the 18's i need a 275/65-18 tires, the tires on there now are 255/70-17. My question is...will i need to get my computer reprogramed for the bigger tires or are they close enough not to change anything. I will be taking the 18's off in the winter and be putting the 17's back on. So computer programming will not work. What can I do ????

it will make about a 2mph difference at 65 MPH the difference with the 18's will be that u are goin faster than what ur spedo says. not that much of a difference but the 18's will be 1 inch bigger than ur stock wheels and tires.

so would that ruin anything? Like i said i will be switching them about every 6 months so having to get the computer reprogramed will be out of the question.

i would recommend getting an edge evolution programmer for 400-450 or something of that source. you can put in the size tire that you are using and it will automatically adjust your speedometer which would make it easier for when you switch tires for the season... also your get added power and fuel efficency (so i've heard) i dont actually have one but i will be getting one here shortly and have heard nothing but good about them. so thats what i would recomend doing but i guess its really up to you what you decide. ha

You may want to check if it will add more miles to your odometer than you are really driving. Im not sure but 2mph every hour can add up.
