Default Tire Size

Can someone tell me what is going on here? On every tire size calculator I go on, it says these tires have an overall width of 33.something. The tire and size is Toyo Open Country A/T. When I measured them with the tape measure, it says like 31"??? Can someone tell me what the deal is here? Thanks!

Air pressure and tread wear affect the height... From the angle those look pretty worn but it may just be the angle the pic was taken at

Tire size is 275/70r18. I need an alignment and that is the tire that is gettin worn down cuz of the needed alignment. But still even if they wore down some do you think it would make almost two inches of difference?

Do you have the full weight of the truck sitting on the wheel? Try jacking it up then measure.

Yea that is a good point but I just don't see how it will make almost 2 inches difference.

Well, jack it up then report back to us. I can see gaining a good inch, 1.25", and if it's worn a quarter inch, that's another half inch in diameter. But I'm curious even if they were new, could they have been slightly smaller than 33?

275/70/18 = 275mm tire width = 10.82 inches
275/70/18 = 70% of tire width ( 275mm ) = side wall height
275 X .70 = 192.5mm or 7.57 inches ( sidewall height )
275/70/18 = Rim height

7.57 + 7.57 + 18 = 33.14 inches total tire height
Both tire wear and truck weight, front different than back will affect total height in inches. Hope this helps.
