Tire PSi
After giving my 2005 F 150 a bath today I thought i would check my tire pressure. Well the gas door says 35 PSi max. My tires say 44 PSI max. Which one do I use? When I bought the truck the previous owner put custom rims on so the tires are not stock.

you don't really need the max pressure unless you're hauling a load. it'll rid rougher too. might be better for fuel economy tho. i run 45 psi all around in my 285's. the max on the sidewall says 65 psi. the sticker on the door is for the stock tires, but since you don't have them go by the tires max pressure you have now.
There is something in the owners manual about that. I have an '06 and I remember reading something that refers to the 35PSI. I will have to go out and get it, don't remember what the reasoning was. If you have an OM, might look in there. I'll check mine and see if I'm on crack or not.
As already stated above^, you don't need to run the max pressure unless you are hauling a load. Otherwise, something less than max will be just fine. 35psi might be good for you. I run 40psi in my Yokohamas, that is what the tire shop inflated them at when I bought them last spring. They look good and handle great at 40psi, at 35psi, they look a little low.

I think the sticker on the door says 35 but I checked the pressure right after I bought it and they were all around 40 psi and up. Thought is was kinda wierd, especially since they looked a little low when I put them at 35.
Yeah, I think the sticker is really meant for the stock, from the factory, tires and not necessarily for anything you put on after that.
