I can kind of hear what sounds like an exhaust leak. But there is definitely a knock as well.

Well I had a couple people look at it and they all think it needs a motor so I'm gonna put one in

I can get a jasper for 4500 or a used one thru work with 97k for 2200

Did they tell you what they think it is? Or did they just say "it needs a new motor"

That's a knock I hear. Not an exhaust manifold tick.

Today I got digging thru the box of parts that the guy gave me and there was crank bearings that were wore out and he said somethings about having the crank polished

I might get a crate motor from ford I'm looking at 5500-6000 installed with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty coats to coast

I know some people that are ford techs

I've heard a lot of similar sounds that don't equal a new motor, that's usually just what mechanics fall back on... I'd tear into it first and have a good long around before going that route.

And the guy I bought it from said he had the crank polished and the rear main seal is leaking from that
