Default Throttle not responding intermittently

I looked for a post mentioning this and found nothing so apologies if it’s a repost.

07 4.6 xlt 4x4 150,xxx miles. Occasionally the throttle will just completely not respond, or more like stop responding in the middle of driving. It was happening a lot while maintaining speed while hardly pressing the gas pedal. I thought tranny but now I’m almost positive it’s a sensor, TPS sensor I’m thinking?

It does it more than while keeping speed, one day I was crossing a busy street and I went to accelerate across the street, initially it got some gas but only split second. Pushed me a couple feet out in the middle of the busy road not recognizing I’m pushing the pedal, after a few seconds finally responded and got me out the way. Could have been way worse but that’s just an example.

my TPS sensors little red clip broke off a while ago I think the red clip just locks it in place so idk if that is making it wiggle loose? I adjusted the sensor and cleaned it a little which really helped for a few days then eventually started acting up again.

Does anyone believe it’s somehow not the TPS sensor for some reason, I did adjust some other sensors when I messed with the tps sensor that’s why i ask.
i was looking on autozone, oreily, and advanced but can’t seem to find the same wiring harness or connector. Not sure what the proper name for it is either if someone could point me in the right direction for what to look up, or if someone thinks it may be another sensor any input is appreciated.

have you inspected your fpdm?

can you monitor fuel pressure?

No background given on maint (plugs, boots/springs, TB cleaning, etc)?

Since you were able to get it to work right for awhile after working on the TPS wire connector, and the red locking clip is broken, it sounds like you're right; the connection is not being held together tight enough. You could try using plastic wire ties to pull it together tightly as a test and temporary fix.

+^this

also, ripping king narrow strip of duct tape (with or without the zip tie) can also help as a temporary fix to get you by.

When I fought this back around 60k miles it was intermittently going into limp mode . Seems there was a series of bad throttle bodies around 05 . I tried everything new tps ,cleaned throttle body and connectors it would fail after a period of times when I thought it may be fixed . I put a brand new throttle body with the newer series number on it , no problem for the last 200k miles .
The pcm receives a signal from gas pedal it then sends a coded signal to throttle body , if the tps feed back to pcm doesn't match -boom it goes into limp mode.
I know what you mean I was going into a busy intersection the first time it happened out of state and bam I thought I was going to get creamed. I was in shock for a while. I coasted on out of the way but just barely . My mind was reeling - what the hell .
All it takes is for that shaft or motor sticking or hiccupping . There is a circuit card inside there so I never found out which was acting up it was intermittent and I fought it for several months . Thank god I read about the possible bad TB on here and ordered the new number TB . The limp mode prevents you from having a stuck throttle and slamming into a concrete wall at speed . There were several other manufactures having stuck throttles on the news at the time One guy was on the phone at speed and the state patrol was trying to help him -it didn't end well . I think congress was investigating this and some designs were changed by manufactures. It killed several people . I think it got hushed up or deal made quietly. Certainly some protection boards were redesigned and redundancy doubled up .
No-- nothing like that could happen according to boeing

just replaced FPDM a couple months ago, I am able to monitor fuel pressure and as far as I’ve noticed all has been normal. Throttle body cleaned a couple months ago. new plug and boot in just a couple cylinders that were causing a misfire around when I got the truck over a year ago. No misfires, and no codes

I can find a tps connector on marketplace or local parts shops. Seems like electrical is the first to go on part outs. Closest I’ve found that looks identical and should work is air charge temp sensor.
