is it good to clean the throttle body out? how do i do this?

2004 fx4 supercab 5.4L v8

 

Yeah I try to do it once a year. Just make sure when you take it out you ONLY USE TB Cleaner. DO NOT USE CARB SPRAY! our TBs have a "varnish" coating on them and the carb spray is to harsh on them. I just use the TB cleaner and some of the Blue shop rags. You see some people using an old toothbrush but i figure if carb spary is to harsh on the "coating" then a tooth brush would be hard on it too. but thats just my 2cents

 

I wouldn't use a wire brush, but I do use a toothbrush with TB cleaner and wipe off real well... This along with seafoam treatments 1 or 2x a year really keeps my 04 with 121K running like it only has 30K on the original spark plugs!!! eeeeeek! Gotta get those replaced!
