I've had the triple chime go off randonmly on my 05 XLT. Never seen any message or anything light up on the guage/display. Haven't heard it in a while though. I just chalked it up to one of those vehicle "gremlins" that just can't be axplained.

Well apparently the gremlins are alive and active here in the NWT! Went to the dealer today and after paying the obligatory $200 to have a "higher" level tech to examine my vehicle, they basically shrugged their shoulders and said unless I wanted to spend hundreds more to have someone continue the search for the mysterious warning chime I had better be happy with the fact that the truck is working fine and put up with the annoying mysterious chime alarm! Also no explanation for the cruise control shutting down with the activation of the turn signal...again, they would be happy to keep looking for the cause but would not guarantee they could solve it regardless of how much money I was willing to spend! So I guess I just have to hope that these issues are not precursors to something worse electrical down the road that will leave me stranded somewhere at -40!

Thanks for your input

Do you have this response from the dealership in writing? After paying $200.00, I'd be having a cow if they tell me they can't find anything, and that it will cost more to investigate.

I'd calmly talk to the service advisor and ask for the regional service rep's phone number, as you expect a refund (or percentage of) that $200.00 waste of your time and money.

Just be polite. You will get positive results.

Hey bud sorry to hear that they did not find anything and you are out $200. Check out the links below I think this might solve our problem. If you pay close attention it is not three chimes its five. The passenger air bag warning light is not working in my truck, the light above the radio and I think that is why I am getting the chime. Make sure you light is coming on when you put the key forward in the ignition, if it does not come on that might be your problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll check out those links, however the number of chimes is definitely 3 rapid notes, not 5. Going for a 6 hour drive tomorrow...will see what happens!

one hour into my drive, and off goes the mysterious three chime alarm, with no indication that anything is wrong, an hour later, off it goes again. For the remaining 3 hours, no chimes and everything worked great! Damn chime, it's going to drive me crazy!

have you tried the " disconnect the battery to reset things" thing? maybe the gremlins won't like being out of juice................

just a thought.

Well guy I fixed that annoying chime thanks to Google it helped me narrow it down. Unfortunately mine is not the 3 chime it's the 5 chime. Well the problem was a blown fuse for the passenger air bag warning light above the radio. So if you are having this problem you might want to check you fuses, good luck!

Default Solved the 3 Chime!

Ha! After many months I discovered the chime was not from the truck but from the satellite radio! Every time a certain artist played on any station a 3 chime alert went off so you could change stations to listen to them. Rediculous, but I don't know how the stupid thing was activated, and it sounds just like a ford chime! Thanks for everyones input.
