Default Third Brake Light does not work (Help me)

Okay, so heres the deal. i have been looking all over and seeing "check the buld" "check the fuse" "volt test the wires"....

I highly doubt that is the issue, i have a 2004 f150 xlt, so does my brother, and my dad has a 2005.... all three of which dont have working third brake lights. The cargo lights are fine. The bulbs are fine but none of them work. Please help me out, i mean if they are there they should light. How do you fix this????

I know it sounds stupid but it only works when the brakes are used. Turn your interior light **** all the way up till all the lights come on and see if the reverse lights in the 3rd brake light come on. All i can think of is connection, bulb, or fuse

Try unscrewing the housing and letting it dangle there, place something on the brake pedal to activate the brake lights and wiggle the wires on the back of the third brake housing. if it lights up in certain position then the wires may be frayed a little. Only takes a couple of minutes too.

Hmmm...if the fuse and bulb are fine then that only leaves wiring. If the is a break in the wire then there is no power getting to it. Its the only thing I am able to think of, unless the ground wire wiggled loose or the connector thing that plugs into the bulb is toast.
