Default Thinking about buying

Sold my 04 F150 RC XLT about 18 months ago and bought a motorcycle and a 95 F150.

Ive got the itch for something new and I want to drop down to 1 vehicle. I drive 5-8,000 miles a year so gas mileage isnt as big a factor for me as it is for others. When the weather permits I ride the bike, it gets about 40 mpg.

My plan is to sell or trade my 05 Mustang and the 95 F150.

About the only options I want are AC, CC, and AT. I would lower 3/5, install 20in Lincoln wheels, tint, and stereo.

The other creature comforts arent necessary. In fact I dont want the cloth seats, to hard to keep clean, and I would probley install leather take-offs anyway. V6 or V8 is fine, I dont tow and dont haul heavy loads.

So, should I look to buy now, wait a month or so and see if the incentives on the 08s get any better, or wait another year and see what kind of deal I can score on a 09.

I would like a SC but a RC would do the job, I dont want to spend more than about 20k.

Why not consider a good, clean used truck? I went out about 2 weeks ago to "look". I ended up buying a very clean 2005 F150. The used truck market is a great source for trucks, as is the new truck market. For me, buying a used truck saved me a bunch of cash, as the initial depreciation value already took place, and I was able to barter more than I would on a new one. It was well within my price range. I have AC, CC, and the rubber floor mat instead of carpet; a big plus for me.

I suppose everyone is running a bit scared with the gas prices, so the truck market is feeling the pain somewhat. I bought mine with the 4.2 V6, and got over 20 MPG on it's first trip to Ammerello (about 600 mile trip that day).

With the current incentives on the 08's I traded out at a 15.6k difference on a S/cab and the retail was $32,155 on the new one.I traded a 97 r/c V6 2wd in that had close to 100k for miles.

Believe it or not a 5.4 gets real good mpg too. I have a 07 Screw 5.4 and avg 17.6 mpg in mixed driving. But back ot the question, I think incentives on the 08s will be great come about Nov

The local Ford dealer has 08 RC XLs with V6/AT/AC/CC for 16k. That doesnt seem like a very good deal, I seem to remember the same truck selling last year for 12.5k.

I guess I will wait another month or shop some of the secondary lots for used trucks.
