Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Installation
I recently bought a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 and F150 wiring harness based on the recommendation of members of this forum (thanks). I decided to snap a few pics during my install for people who might be looking for a more convenient mounting location than under the driver side dash. Note: This install will not work unless you have a front bench seat with no center console.
I removed the storage slot from below the ash tray. Just firmly grab the bottom and pull straight out.

Next, I used an exacto knife to cut an opening in the back of the storage slot for the wiring harness.

I then drilled two small holes and mounted the bracket inside the storage slot using two small nuts and bolts and a dab of blue loctite on each. Here's a shot of the inside:

And the outside:

Here's a shot of the Prodigy P2 in place:

And the wiring harness attached:

After you have it all completely assembled as shown, you just have to route the wiring harness into the opening behind the storage slot and plug it in. It's a bit tricky to get the storage slot back into place because there isn't much room for the wiring harness, but if you work at it, it isn't too tough. Here's a pic of the completed install:

I'll be using this to tow a car trailer to and from the drag strip fairly often, so it's nice to have it in an easy to access location.

Absolutely. Unless you desperately need a place to store a deck of cards and don't mind that they'll fall out every time you accelerate, there is no useful purpose for that storage space. It did make for a convenient trailer brake location though.
LOL so true. nice install!
