Default Tailgate cable bolt won't budge...

Tried installing a tailgate assist today but when it came to removing the cable bolt it wouldn't budge. Went to town on it with my battery impact after some PB Blaster soaking and tried heating it up but wouldn't budge at all. Am I going to have to cut it?

Did you spray the back side where the threads are? You can access it from up underneath. Since the torq is all rounded out, try a small pipe wrench on the outside. This is a stupid question, so no offense(but has to be asked)...are you turning it the correct way?

Yeah I took off the brake light and sprayed the back. I tried going at it with some channel locks too, and yes I am turning it the right way.

What you need is an impact driver. Bought mine at NAPA. It's a very good tool to have. Basically you strike it with a hammer and it rotates CCW or CW with each blow. If you need help finding one let me know. Feel sure that would loosen it.

I had to use a large pair of Channel locks and I got it to turn.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I finally got the bolt loose after the pipe wrench left some teeth marks on the bolt and the channel locks had something to grip on to.
