Default One piece driveshaft clunk - crew cab

I'm still having issues with this "new" driveshaft I put in my 2004 screw 4x4, 221k miles.

U joints began to squeak on the original. Bought a new driveshaft from "shaftmasters" in MI.

Immediately after install, I had a HARD clunk when taking off from a stop. Found this is commonly fixed by lubing the splines where the driveshaft yoke goes into the transfercase. Bought the "Ford recommended" blue Teflon grease, comes back after a couple weeks like clockwork.

Anyone have another solution? I wish to god I hadn't thrown out the original D/S, I could have swapped in the original yoke that was likely nickel coated.

This is driving me insane. my 400+ "new" driveshaft is junk, and my mint 2004 is now reflecting its age for the first time..

Why didn't you just R&R the ujoints in the old shaft? $40 cheaper than $400.

Have you called the place you got the DS from?

A new yoke from Ford fixed mine. I know it stinks that you have to buy that on top of the new shaft, but thats the fix. Yes, the factory part has nickel plated splines.

Risk involved with replacing the U joints, with them being staked in originally.

Guy at Shaftmasters told me I can return is. Which means I need to source a used driveshaft, replace the U joints. So I'm out more money than if I had attempted it on my original shaft. that's great.

Perry, do you happen to have a part number for a Ford Yoke? Maybe I could install on this driveshaft I already have.
