Default tailgate

So the honeymoon is almost over. Needed to get into the box yesterday and the tailgate was locked. used the key to open and no go. keys work in the ignition, but won't even budge on the tailgate lock.
Any ideas?

How hard did you force it in there?? I've had that problem before with mine and I flipped the key over and it went right in. I've also had the same problem with the key into the ignition but after flipping the key around it goes right in.

I tried flipping the key over and the same thing happens. It does go into the lock, but will not turn the tumbler over to unlock it.

thats weird. Did you try jiggling the handle or jiggling the tailgate while trying to unlock? Maybe that will help?

That is kind of weird. I really don't know what else to try unless there's some kind of lubricant that you can spray in there.

Hook a ****** rope to the tail gate, tie it to a tree and floor it.

WOOHOO!! The honeymoon is back on!! I took the inside panel off and pulled hard on the rods that go to the latches and they released. I think that the tailgate hasn't been opened for a couple of years and was seized shut. Cleaned out all the dust and rust, lubed it up and now it works. The lock tumbler I had to dissassemble and clean up before it would work, but now everything is A-OK.
