Default subwoofer question

right now I have 2 alpine type s' ,10", in a sealed box, needless to say that they are both garbage because the box shifted and they were bouncing off of the floor, and the box is cracked in 1 place, dunno how it happened... anyhow I now need to replace my subs and box and was looking at an mtx thunderform unit but I don't want anything that's gonna sound crappier than I already have and have never heard an mtx thunderform system, so I don't wanna waste my money on something and find out that I don't like it... the other option is to buy a fox box and 2 more 10s thatll cost about $1-200 more

edit: also I cant find any good mtx thunderform reviews that compare it to any other system

I am planning on installing amps and a sub soon. I have a sub box planned out, its going to be 1.2 cubic feet with one shallow mount 10". It is going to fit under the passenger rear seat leaving a large area for stuff.

My point is, one 10" sub can sound great with the correct box and power. A custom box will sound better.

thanks for the response, I feel the same way about a custom box but I don't have the time, know how, or place to build a custom box, I really wanna try the mtx but will be disappoint on spending $500 plus shipping if I don't like it compared to my 2 10s

All MTX subs i've ever heard sound tinny. The might be ok at SPL but not SQ. what amp are you going to use? A new sub doesn't matter if the amp isn't right for it.

Best buy has loaded Box with a L3 sub for under $300. The box is ported and tuned for the sub. I think it only needs 300w rms.
