Default Strange rust spots in window ???

My whole drivers side window has these super hard orange/brown spots that look like rust. I tried to shave them off with a razor blade and they didn't go away completely and dulled the blade in a 4"x4" area.

Here's a pic of it. They cover the whole drivers window and no where else on the truck. I bought it used with these on there and didn't ask what it might be from when I bought it. Also didn't think it would be tough to get off.

Any suggestions as to what this is and how to remove it if possible?

Cheers,
Pete

I might be reaching here but just trying to help. Did you buy it private or from a dealer? If you bought it private do you know what the guy did for a living? The reason I as is because my old work truck had similar spots on the window which were caused by splatter from a cutting torch being used not to far away from my truck. Also for some reason the paint below the window was virtually untouched for some reason. Are the spots smooth like glass still or coarse? If it is that it involves window replacement to remove the spots. I might be just really reaching for an answer but thats my $0.02.

It's definitely rough and super hard. Almost a perfect even spread of these all across the drivers window. The window in the suicide door and the front window are perfect. Paint and trim all appear to be original and in near perfect shape.

I did get it from a private individual, but he wasn't a welder and it wasn't a work truck. It only has 52k miles on it for a 2004.

I thought it was some sort of tar or something, but when I tried to get it off that's when I found it's more of an oxidation going on.

Still stumped.

Cheers,
Pete

Strange it would only be on the glass and not on the paint or trim. Did you notice it on the window at time of purchase? If it won't come off with a razor blade and window cleaner may have to look into replacing it or contacting a glass company to see what they recommend. Maybe it was some sort of vandalism. Just guessing. a harsh chemical like muratic acid may do damage like this if left on over a extended period of time. I would contact a glass company after you have tried everything to get it removed to see what they recommend.
