Strange Behavoir After Hitting Mud Puddle
I hit a mud puddle on a farm road yesterday (could be classified as a pond) and I noticed my gauges stopped working. When I got up to the farm I shut off my trucking thinking the gauges would start working if I restarted it.
It would not refire. It sounded like the battery was dead. Today I was able to start it and the gauges "vibrated" a little and then started working. After a few minutes they stopped working and the truck started idling rough and died. It now will not restart again.
Does anybody have a recommendation for something I could check?
Sorry if this has been posted before. I am in emergency repair mode trying to get my truck running before the parts store closes (in case I need parts). I need to take my truck home tonight.

Thanks for the replies. I now believe the mudpuddle was a coincidence.
I got my truck on a charger and it fired up and ran fine. I drove it into town on the charge and had the parts store test my battery (it tested ok). After that they also tested the alternator output: 11.6volts.
I think the alternator has not been putting out enough power. When I drove last night with lights, defroster, windshield wipers (all running full blast) I think it finally drained the battery enough to cause the issue.

Hey man,
Same thing happened to me too, after hitting a mud (bigger then a) puddle, turned out to be my Fuel Pump Module, it is located under the spare tire and is very easily susceptible to corrosion from mud and water. I would have it checked by your mechanic and make sure this isn't the issue. Not an expensive fix, cost me $350, but I was out in the bush for the week, so I am glad the mechanic didn't take the opportunity to really gouge me!

Most likely your fpdm. Corroded through and when the water hit it shorted it out. Without it your fuel pump just doesn't pump. I got mine from amazon for like 55 bucks.
