or you could get teflon coated wheels like me and the dust pratically rises off with a hose

Use the old truckers' trick - clean, polish, then coat with Pledge or Pam cooking spray (works on keeping bugs from sticking to front air deflectors and grilles, too!).

Welcome to the Forum WD....I see we have another Tennesee person in here. Take a look at the TN Roll Call thread under the regional section. Pretty good bunch of guys in there.

i always have the same problem with mine. but once i put new wheels on it was less noticable with having more of a black rim. but i did recently find that they make a brake pad that puts off a white dust depending on what type of wheels you have. if there chrome or polished aluminum then there amazing.

other then that theres really no fix to it other than buy covers for your breaks that keeps the dust from coming outward.

^ ya but i would rather have function over form. you already have a brake dust shield on the back, i wouldnt want shields on both sides. ceramics do the job of reducing break dust pretty good, no need to reduce you trucks brake cooling abilities

I put the surestop pads (mid grade) from NAPA on my truck 2 weeks ago. I have noticed a lot less brake dust. and what is there is not as dark as the OEM pads.

I don't know of a good way to stop it other than ceramic (which has already been covered). They are pretty easy to clean though, just wipe it off with a rag. For the tough spots I use a citrus based degreaser. Works like a charm.

Do other trucks have this problem too? I've only noticed it bad on F-150's and Expeditions.

for sure the best way is to get ceramic pads.... Then just put a good coat of wax on your rims and your set. Your kinda covering it from both angles... less is coming off the pads and less is sticking to the rims.

Thanks for everyone's comments! Sounds like I'm gonna have to keep cleaning them every week or try the ceramic pads!

I too am tired of all the brake dust and have been thinking of installing hawk ceramic pads. Only problem I've heard is the rotors will wear out more quickly. Has anyone who have installed ceramic pads had noticeable rotor wear?
